Happy 5 Months Baby Boy

Jacob you are 5 months old today! Part of why I wanted to start a blog is so that I could keep track of how much you are growing and changing each month. So what have you been up to this month:

• You can now sit up on your own for 30-60 seconds at a time. You still lean forward alot but your balance has gotten SO much better
• You LOVE playing with your toys now, and are getting so much better at reaching out and grabbing things.

• You want to stand all the time, and recently you've started putting one foot in front of the other and moving forward when we hold your hands.
• You also learned how to balance yourself on an object while your standing without us holding your hands. I have a feeling you might be an early walker!

• You want to put everything in your mouth these days: your toys, your hands, our hands... absolutely everything you can get your hands on goes directly into your mouth
• We think you must have started teething this month since you're really starting to chew on things. We can see your 2 front teeth moving down and we think it's only a matter of time before they break through.

• You LOVE your Daddy as soon as you see him you get the biggest smile on your face. He makes you laugh so much when he plays with you!
• You also have really started to love music this month. We put you in your Jolly Jumper and put on some music and you love to dance to it. You also stare in fascination every time your Dad brings out his guitar or hand drum and plays it.

• You are such a happy baby. The only time you really cry is if you wake up hungry in the middle of the night or if you get too overtired before you go to sleep.
• You love interacting with people and are not shy at all. You will let anyone hold you and just smile away at them. You are always your happiest when you are in a big crowd of people (I think you must get that from your dad).

• This month you have been pretty consistently falling asleep on your own with no crying. We give you a bath each night, blow dry you (we have done that since you were born and you love it) get you in your PJ's, read a book, feed you and put you in your crib. Most nights you just lay there and talk to yourself for a bit and then go to sleep.
• At your last check up you weighed 15 pounds 11 ounces (50%) and 26.5 inches (90%)

Jacob you have bought so much joy into your father and I's life. We love watching your personality grow each day! I can't believe 5 months has passed since you were born, it seems like yesterday that I was holding you as a teeny little baby in my arms! I can't wait to see what the next 5 months will bring.
